Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gaming is against the law. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent area, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau casino, highlights 150 slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that features a number of conveniences in addition to the gambling den, which houses ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 tables.
