The general rareness in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense kind of baffling, in one way or another.
In past times, the city was a place where several South Africans would drop by to be away from the exceptionally prohibitive standards on gaming (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. Thus, you would bank on something of an advancing sector to accommodate that tourist trade.
On the other hand, maybe it is not all that much of a surprise. The state is truly the most destitute on the globe, having gone through a frightening civil war (followed by damaging floods) from which it is still, very slowly, rebounding. This can make a location much less of a vacation prospect, though there is at this moment a inviting scene along some of the region’s attractive beaches.
It is at the same time credible that regionally to a certain extent, Mozambique’s casinos have had to aspire with many others in the lately liberalized South Africa, which comprises of the recognized Sun City founded by the Kerzner family establishment.
Here is a list of Mozambique’s casinos:
Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel
There are seventy eight slot machines as well as video poker games, five tables of American roulette, 4 blackjack tables, along with 1 poker table.
Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino
There are forty slot machines, American roulette, and 2 tables for poker and also punto banco.
It is thought that over time the complete tourism sector in Mozambique will build greatly. While the local languages are, obviously, African, there is in addition the portion of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the distinctive and expanding awakening of English, both from South Africa and as part of the worldly phenomenon. The country is considerably cheap (naturally, as it is very poor) and as above, has some of the most stunning beaches world wide, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the combination of features that make tourism agents drool, and as the country ascends out of its present slump, it is likely that not only will tourism grow, but that the list of casinos in Mozambique will grow longer too.
While the country is unlikely to ever restore its reputation as a location for partying South Africans, as there are now other choices closer to home for them to derive pleasure in, the expansion of a long distance tourism sector is being outlined. This would be to accommodate Europeans wanting winter sun, as a retreat from the dullness of the Northern Hemisphere winter. Plus, obviously, the most elite prawns (shrimp) over the world come from just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
